Port of Asgoth
The harbor town where the campaign's expeditions begin.
Port of Asgoth lies where the River Asgoth slows into a broad, reed-lined delta before meeting the western sea. Its harbor is cut into a deep inlet beneath high, dark cliffs. The water inside the headlands is calm enough for river barges and broad-beamed trading vessels, while the open sea breaks white against the rocks beyond.
Stone quays, net lofts, and warehouses crowd the lower town around the harbor. Above them, narrow stairs and switchback lanes climb through homes carved into the cliff face. Watchtowers, shrines, and terraced gardens cling to the heights, with mule paths continuing toward the mountain passes. The cliffs shelter the town from the fiercest coastal weather, but they also make every arrival and departure visible from above.
A meeting place
Boats from upriver bring timber, grain, and travelers. Vessels from beyond the headlands bring stranger cargoes, unfamiliar songs, and news that has changed hands many times before reaching the quays. No tongue rules the harbor for long. Dockhands, merchants, pilgrims, and wanderers make themselves understood with fragments of speech, practiced gestures, and the occasional phrase of the Old Tongue.
