West of Babel
An in-person, open-table Dungeons & Dragons campaign built around exploration and language learning.
West of Babel is a way to practise speaking languages, mainly French and English, while playing Dungeons & Dragons. We use real-life languages to represent languages in the game.
The main language of the game is English, but we encourage people to speak other languages as much as possible. The world contains many languages, and everyone has opportunities to speak languages they are still learning. It is okay to speak a language badly here: we explicitly encourage you to practise.
No previous Dungeons & Dragons experience is required. The group is open to newcomers.
Where adventures begin
Our adventures start in Port of Asgoth, a sheltered harbor town beneath the western cliffs. It is a place to gather a group, follow a lead, and return with a story worth recording.
What to expect
Players choose where to go and what to pursue. Each session starts and ends at a safe home base, and the group shares what it learns so the world develops together. Read the campaign structure for the practical details.
